We Must Confess
|
 |
|
According to the Bible, we must confess that Jesus is the Son of God. Although the Bible states that confession is made unto salvation, that does not mean that confession is the only thing necessary to be saved. Consider the context of Romans 10:1-10. Paul was writing about Israelites [Jews] who were zealous for God, but would not confess Jesus as Lord. If they were to put Jesus as Lord over their lives, because of their zeal for God, they would have also obeyed His other commands necessary for salvation. After one is saved, there is a continuing need for confessing one's sins.
1 John 4:15 |
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. |
Matthew 10:32,33 |
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. |
Romans 10:1-2, 9-10 |
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge...That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
1 John 1:9,10 |
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. |
