The Law of Moses
|
 |
|
(Exodus 19-40; Leviticus 1-27; Numbers 1-10; Deuteronomy 4-31)
Not long
after the Israelites (Jews) left Egypt they came to Mount Sinai, where God
revealed the Law to Moses. Moses, in turn, told the people what God had
commanded. The part of the Law of Moses that most people today are
familiar with is the Ten Commandments. [Note that this was given to the
Israelites, not Christians (Exodus 34:27-28).] When God gave the Law, He
promised the Israelites that He would bless them as long as they obeyed
Him, and He would punish them if they disobeyed. The Law had
commandments that were to govern every aspect of the Israelites' lives,
including moral, religious, and civil laws. God's promise to the
Israelites and the laws He gave them were to prepare them for the coming
Savior.
