The Bible makes it abundantly clear that baptism (water immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins) is necessary for salvation.
Mark 16:16 |
He
who believes and is baptized will be saved;
but he who does not believe will be condemned. |
Acts 2:38 |
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let
every one of you be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." |
Acts 22:16 |
And
now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and
wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. |
1 Peter 3:21 |
Corresponding to that, baptism
now saves you --not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (NASB) |
Acts 10:47,48 |
"Surely no one can refuse the
water for these to be baptized who have received the
Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?" And he
ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Then they asked him to stay on for a few days. (NASB) |
Romans 6:3,4 |
Or
do you not know that as many of us as were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
death? Therefore we were buried with Him
through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. |
