The baptism of repentance was also referred to as the baptism of John. This was no longer valid after the death of Christ (Acts 19:3-5).
Mark 1:4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Acts 13:23,24 "From this man's seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior -- Jesus -- after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
Acts 19:3-5 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Matthew 3:7-10 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? "Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not think to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. "And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Matthew 21:25 "The baptism of John -- where was it from? From heaven or from men?" And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'"
Mark 11:30-33 "The baptism of John -- was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me." And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' But if we say, 'From men' " -- they feared the people, for all counted John to have been a prophet indeed. So they answered and said to Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus answered and said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."
Luke 3:3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins,
