The Bible should be studied with an open mind. If we believe that it is inspired by God, we should also believe that He is capable of delivering His Word without error or contradictions, despite the different languages, writers, translations, geographic locations, and time frame. If we find something that appears to be a contradiction, we should try to figure out how "we" are interpreting it incorrectly, and change "our" beliefs to match His.

themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the
truth, and be turned aside to fables.

sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.
||These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received
the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out
whether these things were so.
||When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then
the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he
who received seed by the wayside.
